About this resource

Exclusively for Mental Health Network members, this slide deck provides a shared narrative and set of key messages to support communications and influencing activity.

It is designed to help members communicate confidently about the pressures facing mental health services, challenge misinformation and support a more informed and balanced national conversation.

The resource sets out an overarching narrative and key messages across six themes:

  • Record levels of activity alongside even higher levels of demand
  • How services are adapting and developing new models of care
  • The gap between rising need and available funding
  • The importance of mental health services to society and the economy
  • The wider social causes of poor mental health
  • The low and unchanged risk to the public from people with severe mental illness

Use and adapt the messages for conversations with MPs and other stakeholders, media engagement, speeches, presentations, briefings and other communications activity.
