We’re delighted to announce a new partnership with IBM.

NHS Providers members will have access to an AI productivity centre and masterclasses to drive AI adoption across their trusts, which will help them:

  • Enhance productivity and operational effectivity.
  • Improve patient outcomes through innovative technologies.
  • Promote best practice.

New technology, especially AI, will revolutionise healthcare, significantly enhancing outcomes, productivity and making our NHS sustainable.

Daniel Elkeles, chief executive of NHS Providers, said:

"We're thrilled to partner with IBM, a recognised leader in AI, to support the NHS's digital transformation journey. AI has a critical part to play. We must focus it on the parts of the NHS that will give patients and staff most ‘bang for bucks’. We need to do more to help trusts learn from each other and share their lessons.

"Working with IBM signals a big step forward in integrating and scaling up AI in daily NHS operations. It’s important that we educate NHS leaders not just in the digital arena, but across all portfolios. This training will equip them with the know-how necessary to drive successful AI implementation across their organisations, ensuring responsible, secure, and ethical AI usage.

"It’s clear that the use of AI improves productivity, and we can see that in the pilots across the NHS and in the rest of our lives. We need to get much better in the NHS at targeting its use at processes and tasks that enable us to unlock productivity that’s either cash releasing or enables more patients to be treated with the same resource.

"With a recent AI trial showing productivity gains of over 10%, it’s clear AI has the potential to deliver benefits whether by improving efficiency or enabling better use of existing resources.

"Trusts need help to cut through all the noise surrounding AI. From questions about what makes the biggest impact on improving productivity and risk management, to safe and effective adoption that tangibly improves quality of care and staff experience, that’s where we can step in and support our members."
