This interactive online peer learning event explored how we can leverage the digital shift to promote racial equity, reduce disparity and prevent exacerbation of existing racial inequalities.
- Elizabeth Anderson provided insights into the work of the Digital Poverty Alliance, highlighting how the organisation is supporting marginalised communities by improving access to digital tools, skills and connectivity. She reflected on how addressing digital poverty is key to ensuring equitable access to healthcare in an increasingly digital NHS.
- Dr Ruw Abeyrante shared how University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust is using patient data to understand and address inequalities. Ruw discussed how the trust had identified key areas of concern from patients and embedded these insights into board priorities to drive more inclusive and equitable services.
- Facilitated peer learning discussions encouraged participants to share their own experiences and reflect on how they are addressing race equity and digital inclusion within their organisation. Attendees discussed what “good” looks like when applying a race equity lens to digital work, and how boards can champion this agenda to deliver meaningful change.
