Waiting list (data for April 2026)
- The total reported community services waiting list in England stood at 1.22 million in April. This is the highest figure on record and is compared with 1.12 million in April 2025.
- The total number of CYP waiting for community services was 331,705, compared with 322,510 in April 2025.
- There were 887,671 adults on the community waiting list, compared with 799,346 in April 2025.
Long waits (over 52 weeks) (data for April 2026)
- There were 87,206 children and young people (CYP) waiting for 52 weeks or more, equating to 26.3% of all CYP on the community waiting list. This is compared with 71,871 (22.3%) in April 2025.
- There were 36,347 CYP waiting for 104 weeks or more, which is 11.0% of all CYP on the community waiting list. This is compared with 17,216 (5.3%) in April 2025.
- There were 7,299 adults waiting for more than 52 weeks for treatment, compared with 12,579 in April 2025. This makes up 0.8% of the adult waiting list (1.6% in April 2025).
Referrals and contacts (data for March 2026)
- There were 1.87 million referrals to community services received (as shown in Figure 4), compared with 1.70 million referrals in March 2025. This is the busiest March on record.
- A total of 9.09 million care contacts were reported across all submitters, compared with 8.58 million in March 2025.
